The deep water Fripp Island Marina is about 2 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. It has easy access to miles of Low Country marsh and creeks. The Marina includes a boat ramp, dockage, boat storage and repair. The Marina also sells gasoline and oil for boats and automobiles.
You can rent a boat from Island Exclusions (843.838.1518) or charter a boat with local, licensed captain. Park the boat near Fripp Inlet and experience dolphins swimming all around - it is a wonderful opportunity.
Fishing, crabbing, and shrimping are favorite activities on Fripp for all ages. You do not need a permit or license as long as you just catch for personal consumption and are not in a boat. When you are in a boat, you do need a license. The Marina can give you information on licenses.
There are two public fishing/crabbing docks and you can also fish/crab off of the bridge leading to Sawgrass. Another favorite place is in the tidal pool on the beach just north of the Beach Club. Take a crabbing lesson with the family and come home to cook the catch.
